Parade Rules

Entry Details
  • There is a limit of two vehicles per entry.
  • All parade entries must be decorated. Decorations includes, but are not limited to, the use of materials such as fringe, skirting, bunting and other decorative items.
  • Vulgar or offensive décor will not be permitted.
  • The Parade Committee retains the right to remove any entry from the event at its sole discretion.

Entry Fees

  • Entry fees are non-refundable. Refunds will not be given for no-shows, cancellations, extractions, bad weather, etc.

Candy & Handouts
  • Throwing or tossing anything from an entry is expressly prohibited. Parade entrants observed throwing anything from a moving entry will be removed from the Parade and will not be allowed back onto the Parade route.
  • Entrants are allowed to distribute items by handing them to the recipient while walking alongside the crowd.

Entry Staging
  • The Parade departs from Dacotah Centennial Park (DCP) at 10 a.m. and will arrive at Mandan Avenue and Main Street at approximately 10:30 a.m.
  • All entries will be assigned a staging area at DCP to assemble, in Parade order, prior to the Parade's start.
  • Entrants are required to be in their assigned staging area, assembled and ready to move-out by 9:45 a.m.
  • Entrants not in their assigned staging area by the prescribed time will forfeit their spot and placed first-come, first-served at the end of the parade.

Parade Route
  • Entrants are expected to keep moving the entire duration of the Parade.
  • If an entrant must stop, move to the side of the road to allow other entries to pass.
  • Any activities that slow the progress of the Parade are discouraged, this includes shaking hands, visiting with spectators or taking photos. Dispensing candy or handouts needs to be done expeditiously.
  • The distribution of fliers or other bulk material is highly discouraged because they generally end up on the street.

The Mandan Independence Day Parade is not responsible for accidents. All Parade entrants are responsible for their own safety precautions and are expected to practice their own preventative measures. If your Parade entry has horses or vehicles it is the operators responsibility to keep them under control.
