The Mandan Independence Day Parade & Street Festival will attempt to set a record for the World Longest Macarana Dance. The attempt will take place at 10:00 a.m. on July 4th, 2013 on Main Street in Mandan, North Dakota. Parade co-chairs Dennis Friesz and Marlo Anderson stated that the committee will be ready to assist participants along Mandan's Main Street. The committee is also prepared to use "the strip" which intersects east Main Street in the event more space is needed.

Mandan set a record for the world's longest YMCA dance on July 4th, 2012. The World Record Academy officially verified the record on July 18, 2012. The YMCA dance spanned 24 city blocks with a distance of 1.623 miles. Mandan has also set records for the Twist and the Chicken Dance. The event will be broadcast live on Cool 98.7.
